Tucked away, east of the main square of the Jewish Quarter where the Hurva Synagogue is located, is the "Wohl Museum." This is a very unique museum for it preserves the remains of six buildings that date to the Second Temple Period (= New Testament Era). They were destroyed by the Romans in 70 CE. In order to preserve these wonderful buildings, modern structures were built over them!
These elite (priestly?) structures were discovered in the post 1967 excavations of Nahum Avigad.
