Temple of Augustus and Livia

A view looking northwest at the entrance (right) and the southern wall of the Roman Temple dedicated to Augustus and Livia his wife. It was built between 20-10 BC and rebuilt/rededicated during the reign of Claudius. (r. 37–41) to honor Livia, his grandmother. It was the center of the ancient city of Vienna. It served as a temple for the Imperial Cult.

At its base, it is 78 feet long and 47 feet wide.

For a time it served as a church, "the temple of Reason" (1792), a court, a museum, and a library.
