Ancient Samos 1

View looking east towards the site of the ancient city of Samos—the island capital in ancient times. Today the city is called Pythagório.

On the citadel of ancient Samos is the Castle of Lykourgos that was built at the beginning of the 19th century. On the left side of the castle the orange roofed building is the Church of the Transfiguration.
