Oinochoe

photo

A Corinthian Oinochoe from the sixth century B.C. that was used for pouring wine or water.

Note the lip and the high handle. The black Corinthian glaze did not adhere well to the jug. Note the animal figures along the side of the jug.

Artifact on display in the museum at Corinth.
