Tomb of Clytemnestra

photo

View looking north into the entrance way (dromos) of the so–called Tomb of Clytemnestra. The passage way (dromos) is 213 ft. [65 m.] long. This unroofed passage way was paved and lined with massive hewn stone blocks. Note the rounded hill that covers the top of his “beehive–shaped” tomb.

This is probably the most recent of the nine tholos tombs discovered at Mycenae—dating to about 1250 B.C. It is located between the modern parking area and the Lions’ Gate.
