Grotto Overview 1967

View looking east from the back of the "cave" towards the grotto where tradition maintains Jesus was born. This picture was taken in 1967!

The "cave" has gone though many modifications, and today is overlaid with asbestos tapestries.

The Greek Orthodox Church has the major rights to the grotto, though other communities hold their rites here at scheduled times.
