Valley Bottom Detail

In this detail of **“Valley Bottom”** note especially the man-made dams in the valley bottom. These dams perform two functions: they slow the runoff of surface and subsurface water and they also assist in the collection of fertile top soil behind the dams. It is in this fertile top soil that the farmers’ crops are planted.
