Pilgrim Accommodations 2

photo

View looking south along the eastern slope of Mt. Gerizim. The excavated area has been interpreted by the excavator, Magen, mainly as accommodations for pilgrims to the Samaritan Temple. Magen dates these accommodations to the Hellenistic Period (332–63 B.C.).

Near the center of the image note the three well-carved architectural fragments (possibly from a monumental structure—Samaritan Temple?).
