View of several of the "squares" located on the north side of Tel Beth Shemesh. In spite of the fact that three–quarters of the 7 acre (2.8 ha.) mound had been excavated in the first half of the twentieth century, the renewed excavations that began in 1990 led primarily by Shlomo Bunimovitz and Zvi Lederman have been very productive.
