Hasmonean Palace

photo

View looking northeast at the twin towers of the representation of the Hasmonean Palace.

The Hasmoneans were the descendants of the Maccabees that led the Jewish stated from 142 to 67 B.C. It is very possible that Jesus appeared before Herod Antipas (Luke 23:7–12)—the ruler of Galilee who was in Jerusalem for the Passover—here on the night prior to his crucifixion.

No certain archaeological remains of this palace have been found.
