
Household Grinders
photoOn the left side of the image are two "mortars." Usually they were embedded into the floor – as is the one furthest left. Grain was placed inside and pounded with a large stick to "grind" it.
The stone slab on the right side of the image was originally embedded in the floor and served as a solid base upon which a column was placed.
All of these items are typical artifacts found in Early Bronze Age "broad houses" as Arad.
