Grape Press Christian Symbol

This is the opening through which the juice flowed from the stomping pit to the settling pit. Note the Christian symbol (a cross) above the opening. Was the juice automatically "blessed" as it passed through this opening? Hmm. In any case, this winepress was probably used by the nearby monastic community.
