Venus Mural

photo

A view of the large, three-part, fresco that is on the back wall in the back of the Peristyle Garden of this house. In this fresco on the left, is the deity Mars, in the center, two cherubs accompany Venus who is lying in a large shell and on the right, birds are drinking from a fountain.

Venus is naked and wears a tiara on her head and jewelry around her neck, wrists, and ankles. Venus was the protectress of Pompeii and the erotic sphere.
