Aqueduct 1

The aqueduct brought water to Aspendos from the Isaurian Mountains 14 mi. [19 km.] distant. The water ran from right to left in this image. Visible is a tower–like structure, preserved to a height of 100 ft. [30 m.] from which the water descended in a sealed siphon. It passed through a low area before ascending another tower from where it entered the city.

The aqueduct dates to the second century A.D.
