Res Gestae Detail

photo

View of the fragments of the Res Gestae that were found at Pisidian Antioch. This is one of the seven panels on display in the museum in Yalvac. It is amazing that a copy of this document was found in such a distant Roman Colony.

The ‘Res Gestae,” describes in detail the rule of Augustus and is of great historical value. The best preserved copies of this document are found on the walls of the Augustus Temple in Ankara, Turkey—in both Latin and Greek.
