Obelisk of Thutmose III
photoA view of the details of the Hieroglyphic inscription on one side of the Egyptian Obelisk of the Egyptian Ruler Thutmose III (r. 1457–1425 BC)). It was originally placed in a Temple in Karnak, Egypt. It is about 60 feet high. This is the top third of the obelisk—it broke when being transported during the days of Constantine. Theodosius I placed it on its marble base (ca. AD 390).
