Obelisk

photo

A view of the remains of a stone obelisk that is located about 3 mi. (5 km.) north of Iznik. It is composed of five triangular stones, set one on top of the other, on top of a square pedestal and a three-stepped base.

According to a Greek inscription, it was erected to honor C. Cassius Philiscus, son of C. Cassius Asclepiodotus who lived for 83 years. It dates to the late first or early second century A.D.
