Temple of Asclepius 3

photo

View looking south at the circular Temple of Asclepius (the god of healing) and to the left of it the pavement and columns of what might be an atrium of a building (= a peristyle house).

Only the foundation of the temple is preserved. It was donated by Lucius Rufinus around A.D. 150 and was modeled after the Pantheon in Rome. It is about 78 ft. in diameter and contained statues of Asclepius and other healing deities.

Just above and to the left of center, the remains of the Treatment Center are visible.
