Reconstructed Roman Bath Furnace

This picture is of the "furnace" of a modern reconstruction of a Roman Bath—mini sized! The opening in the bricks is where wood was fed into the "furnace."

After its construction, using traditional Roman methods, it actually was used! This bath is located along—south of—the old Izmir to Sardis highway on the west side of the Pactolus River.
