Santa Maria Scala Coeli

View of Santa Maria Scala, Church of the Stairway to Heaven" that is one of the three churches on the grounds of Abbazia delle Tre Fontane. This church was rebuilt in 1582.

It owes its name to the legend that Saint Bernard saw in a vision the soul for which he was praying ascend by a ladder from purgatory to heaven.

In the church, there is a crypt in which it is said that Saint Paul was kept before his execution.
