A view of a “Syrian Acanthus” plant. It is also called “Bear’s Breeches.” Although not mentioned in the Bible it is famous for the style of leaves of this plant were copied for use in the design of Corinthian Capitals.

This thorny plant grows to a height of about 3 ft. [1 m.] in fields and/or unplowed fields.
This picture was taken in Israel, at Tel Hannathon in March.

The originator of the Corinthian Capitals is said to be Kalimachus—in the fifth century B.C.
