View looking north at the "First Court" of the Palace of Domitian. The view is of the central pool, where all the grass and weeds are growing. Note the intricate design of the concentric octagons in the center of the pool. This is probably where a fountain was located. Everything was originally covered with marble!
The whole of the pool was surrounded by a portico as well as various rooms that served as dining rooms (triclinia). On the very far (north) side is where the main "Audience Hall" was located.
