View of the Atrium of one of the "Terrace Houses." These houses have been under excavation for a number years and are very well preserved.

This view is of an "Atrium" of one of the houses. An atrium is a square area - open to the air - that is surrounded on all sides by covered colonnades. In the lower right portion of the image the tile floor of the atrium is visible. On the far side, the left side, and the area where this picture was taken there are three of the (normally) four covered porticos. On the left side of the image, in the shadows, remnants of a fresco-covered wall are visible.

It is possible that the waist–high stand, right of center, is an incense altar.
