View looking northwest at the Palestinian village of el–Lubban that is located 10 mi. SSW of Shechem in the Hill Country of Ephraim. This name preserves the biblical name "Lebonah" that is mentioned in Judges 21:19:
"But look, there is the annual festival of the LORD in Shiloh, to the north of Bethel, and east of the road that goes from Bethel to Shechem, and to the south of Lebonah.”
This text is actually the most detailed geographical text in the whole Bible.
This picture was taken in mid April. This area is not artificially irrigated so please note the green grain crops in the valley at this time of year. Note also how the village is built on the slope of the hill so as to avoid taking up valuable agricultural land in the valley.
