View of a collection of basic household hand grinder made out of limestone. The grain was placed in the hollowed out cavities, and then the smaller stone was moved back and forth over the grain, grinding it into flour.
Usually grinders were made out of basalt stone that is harder and more porous.
These grinders were found at "Little Petra" in southern Jordan and actually date to the Neolithic Period!
