View looking down into the southeast corner of the Odeion of Herodes Atticus. The well-preserved stage area and rear stage wall (scaenae frons) are well preserved — the later to three stories in places. The stage wall was originally covered with marble veneer and statues (of the muses?) were placed in the niches.
The person in the lower left portion of the image is walking just above the diazoma (belt) that divides the cavea into two parts. The lower part has five wedged-shape seating areas (cunei) while above the diazoma there are ten.
