View of both traditional and more modern housing units constructed in the Hill Country. Because of its abundance, strength, and permanence house were traditionally built of dressed local Cenomanian limestone.
The house just left of center, with the grass growing on the roof, is very traditional. Note the stone walls - and compare with Israelite houses from the period of ancient times. The houses on the right side of the image, are basically constructed in the same way – although the roofs are sturdier.
Note how the residents of this complex have used both stones and brush to outline their garden.
