View of a small marble statue found at Caesarea Maritima. It is often interpreted, from a Christian viewpoint, as a statue of the "Good Shepherd" (John 10:14). However it is very possible that this is a pagan statue of a worshipper bringing an animal for sacrifice.
Compare the archaic Calf Bearer found on the acropolis in Athens.
