This image was taken in one of the tunnels that have been excavated along the southern portion of the western wall of the Temple Mount Platform. It is very near where the wall rests upon bedrock.
Note the carved ashlar stones with the well-carved margins and projecting bosses. Because these stones were "below grade," the bosses are not finely dressed.
Note also the pieces of prayers (paper) that have been tucked into the seams between the ashlars—like at the more famous Western Wall.
