View looking west at the eastern side, and southeastern corner, of the Temple Mount (Haram esh-Sharif) area.
In the center of the image the golden dome of the Dome of the Rock is clearly visible. Many believe that this was the site of the first and second temples. On the left (south) side of the image the grey dome of the el–Aqsa Mosque is just visible. On the right (north) side of the image the Golden Gate is visible.
The green trees on the far (west) side of the wall are located on the platform of the Haram — the temple platform originally built by Herod the Great (37–4 B.C.).
The taller buildings on the horizon (west) are the modern structures located in "west Jerusalem" (the Jewish side of the city).
