View looking west over the remains of the excavation of the eastern portion of the site.
Just left of center, several columns of the Byzantine Church are standing. On the far left, there are several parallel walls and these are the remnants of the 2nd-4th century Asclepion—the Roman healing center dedicated to the deity Asclepius. Actually, the whole area was part of the healing center.
Scattered throughout the area are small pools that were associated with healing during which the area was still under Jewish control. The healing of the lame man probably took place in this area.
In the upper right quadrant, the apse of the small Crusader Church is visible.
The familiar deep pools are, not visible, in the upper half of the image.
