View of the excavation of the southeastern corner of the Southern Pool.
This excavation helps to define the actual dimensions of the Southern Pool as 164 x 195 feet. This pool was constructed by the High Priest Simon around 200 B.C.—to supplement the capacity of the Northern Pool. It was connected to the Northern Pool and to the Temple by an arched channel.
