View looking down into a portion of the upper end of the Diagonal Tunnel that leads down to a pool that was fed by the Gihon Spring, from which water was drawn. This tunnel evidently dates back to the Middle Bronze II Age (= ca. 1800 B.C.).
Note the steepness of the “Diagonal Tunnel” at this point.
