View of the outer portion of the double (casemate) wall that surrounded Beersheba during the period of the Judean Monarchy. This reconstructed wall consisted of inner and outer layers of mud brick, with stone and dirt fill in between these two layers. This outer wall was about 5.2 ft. [1.6 m.] thick (compare the casemate wall at Hazor).
