View looking north along the western side of Beersheba. On the right side of the image the circular street that begins and ends at the gate area is visible. To the left (west) of the street a series of four–room houses are visible.
Note the surrounding countryside composed of loess (windblown) soil. This picture was taken during the dry summer. The green vegetation in the upper right portion of the image is due to irrigation at an Israeli kibbutz.
