A view of a large section of the so-called "Septimius Severus warehouse." In fact, this storage area was constructed earlier, possibly during the reign of Marcus Aurelius (r. A.D. 160–180) of the "Antonioni Dynasty."
On the left is the warehouse proper. On the right is a portion of the Byzantine city wall. The magnitude of the warehouse is certainly impressive.
The warehouse was situated on the western edge of the octagonal Trajan Harbor. Portions of the walls of the second floor are still preserved.
