A view of a part of the Portico of Claudius that he built on the east side of the harbor. This impressive building greeted the ships as they sailed into Portus. The travertine columns were originally covered with plaster. This portico (colonnade) was renovated during the second and third centuries A.D. It ceased to be used in the sixth century A.D.
