View of a large–than–life statue of Nemesis, the goddess of heavenly revenge. She is mainly depicted as the force that punishes intemperance, overconfidence, and extravagant good fortune. At least 4 statues of her have been found at Perga.
Here she wears a "peplos" that leaves her left breast exposed. Notice how her sheer garment ("drapery") clings to her body that is clearly visible underneath it. Her weight rests on her left leg, the right is flexed, and at her feet is a griffin—a winged, lion-bodied, bird–headed creature.
This statue was one of many (but less than 20) found near the Caracalla Nymphaeum at Perga.
