A model illustrating the process of constructing a Roman Road.
Notice the four progressive stages—after the digging of a trench—from left to right: the large stones for the foundation; smaller stones above that layer; a layer of gravel; and then the paving stones for the surface on the right. Also, note the curbing trenches on both sides of the road.
This model is on display in the Tarsus Archaeology Museum.
