View of a basalt orthostat brought to light during the excavations of Robert Braidwood at Tell Tayinat.  A large cedar column would have been placed on top of this base.

Note the details of the chariot drawn by a pair (?) of horses.  The wheel of the chariot has 8 spokes and is "manned" by a driver and his assistant.  A defeated enemy is being trampled by the horse(s) and the chariot.  Date: 8th century B.C.

This column base is on display in the archaeological museum in Antakya.
