View looking east at the cenotaph (memorial grave marker) of Mevlana. Note the "vertical" head marker (very similar to the hats that members of the Mevlevi sect wore) and the turban at the base of it—indicated his high/revered status.
The gold threaded embroidered quilt over the cenotaph was made in 1274. The marble sarcophagus under it (not visible) was donated in 1565 by Suleiman the Magnificent.
