Detailed view of the acroterion—the large stone ornament that adorned the apex of the roof of the Zeus Temple at Aizanoi.
The female bust, along with terra cotta figurines, has led some researchers to argue that not only Zeus, but also the mother deity, Cybele, was worshiped here. On the lower portion note the acanthus leaves and the two "torches" flanking the bust of the female figure.
