A view of a "human size" marble statue of Apollo. Apollo was the twin brother of Artemis, offspring of Zeus. He was a very popular god, being associated with oracles, healing, archery, music, . . .
This statue has him playing a seven-stringed lyre (Cithara; "Apollo Citharoedus"). The statue dates to the second century A.D. and is from Miletus (Balat, Turkey).
The statue is on display in the Archeology Museum in Istanbul.
