View looking south at the eastern and southern seating area of the Hellenistic Theater. Part of the orchestra area is outlined in green.
Notice the vaulted entrance way on the far side. A walkway (belt, diazoma) circles to the left from it. It is evident that the orchestra area has been partially excavated. The seat seem to descend right into the orchestra. The "protective wall" that was often added during the Roman Period so that gladiatorial games and animal fights could take place in the orchestra is lacking.
