View looking southwest at the interior of the theater at Patara. It has eight cunei in its cavea. Just above and to the right of the center of the images one of the upper level entrances (vomitorium) is visible. Note also, the "belt-like" walkway (diazoma) that runs around the middle portion of the seating area.
Dr. Fahri Isiki, the heasd excavator of Patara, believes that the pile of stones in the far upper left portion of the image is in fact the remnant of a temple to the god Dionysus—compare the temple of Dionysus near the theater at Pergamum.
