View looking north northwest at the Nymphaeum and the Heroon prior to their reconstruction (2001). Note the rear wall and base of the Nymphaeum were found almost intact. The rear wall dates to the reign of the Emperor Augustus (27 B.C.–A.D. 14). For the Heroon, the podium base and steps were also found intact.

It should be remembered that these reconstructions mainly used materials found in the area of the Nymphaeum and the Heroon—and that the reconstructions are based upon the use of original artifacts that were re-erected (anastylosis).
