View looking southeast at the platform on which the Temple of Augustus and Roma stood.
The area now covered by grass in the right (west) foreground was actually the water(!) of the inner harbor of Caesarea Maritima in Herod’s day. In the center, and on the left side, behind the bushes, are the remains of a staircase that led up to the temple.
