This is a picture of a field of Tuleilat al-Anab that was set up by modern researchers north of Avdat on the road to Yeruham.
They found that such an installation hasten the runoff of water and the erosion of the topsoil. In this instance, the outline of the diversion channel, running from the left to the lower right, is clearly outlined by the scrub vegetation. It looks like in this instance the water was diverted into a cistern in the lower right of the image.
Like the ancients, the modern researchers set this up on a broad gentle slope.
