View of on "panel" of the huge burial jar (pithos) that was found on Mykonos in 1961. It dates to around 670 B.C.
Note the warrior on the left, the woman on the right, and the child in the center that is being pierced by a large sword! The potter/artist was certainly aware of the brutality of war.
This is the earliest graphic depiction of the battle of Troy!!
