Mykonos is an island that is located 97 mi [157 km] east southeast of Athens ("as the crow flies") and is part of the group of islands known as the Cyclades. "Cyclades" in Greek means "around"—referring to islands that encircle the sacred island of Delos. From Mykonos day trips can be taken to the island of Delos—about a one-hour trip by boat.
This island is famous for its nightlife and is visited by "the rich and the famous" as well as cruise ships and many tourists.
